Freedom: A Novel (Oprah's Book Club) - Jonathan Franzen

I have never HATED characters so much as I did with Freedom. I got through about 60% and couldn't take it anymore. Very rare for me. Even when I'm not loving a book, if I get beyond the 50% mark, I'll just finish it on principle. Not this time!

As for the writing itself, I felt like I was stuck in an acid trip within Franzen's head while he spouted his streams of consciousness. I couldn't relate to the characters and felt they were just overprivileged, spoiled brats. It was a book club read and many felt the same way I did; therefore, it did spark a lively discussion for the group, so it was good for something.
