The Trouble With Us - Christina C Jones

Everything about The Trouble With Us made me smile. The chemistry between Rashad and Bianca jumps off the page and both are well-drawn characters who felt like they could be my friends. One thing that I always love about CCJ’s characters is that I feel a connection to them instantly. The supporting characters round out the story and add some fun moments to TTWU.

Fighting Envy: A Deadly Sins Novel - Jennifer Miller

Fighting Envy was a sweet and sexy story. Jax’s friends add a healthy dose of levity and humor to the story and I look forward to their books. I still had some questions at the end, but overall a good, low angst read. Lastly, I wished there was an epilogue but the next installment will be Rowan’s brother’s book, so I hope we’ll get some updates on Jax and Rowan there. Read more.

Alluring Ink - Ranae Rose

I’ve really enjoyed the Inked In The Steel City series and getting to know all the characters of the Hot Ink tattoo shop. The stories and characters are realistically drawn and their conflicts are written with emotional depth. Read more.

This I Promise You (Wolf Pack Book 8) - Maureen Smith

Love love love Maureen Smith's writing and I've devoured anything and everything she's published. That said This I Promise You wasn't a fave of mine. Read more.

Easy With You: A With Me In Seattle Novella (1001 Dark Nights) - Kristen Proby

Usually, I’m not a big fan of insta-love stories on principle, but I enjoyed Lila and Asher despite their quick journey to HEA. Kristen Proby just made it all work for me. For the most part, I couldn’t stop smiling while reading EWY. I love a story that gives me the warm and fuzzies and this one does that in spades.  I hope to catch up with Asher, Casey, and Lila as we get to know more of the Boudreauxs in New Orleans. Read more.

Beautiful Beloved - Christina Lauren

In Beautiful Stranger, Max was the stronger character while Sara’s vulnerabilities are at the forefront, Here, it’s Max whose emotions and thoughts that more exposed and raw, while Sara gets to be the stronger one. I enjoyed this immensely. We also meet Max’s brother, Niall, whose book will be coming next.

This novella packed a punch that made me take notice of this series in a way I didn’t before.  I’m looking forward to catching up with this group of friends soon.  Read more.

Beautiful Stranger - Christina Lauren

As promised by book friends, I did like Beautiful Stranger better than Beautiful Bastard. The story flowed better and although Max and Sara have a veritable sex fest for the first half of the book, I found that there was more of a fleshed out plot/story overall than its predecessor. BUT…Sara, frustrated me to no end; thus, the mixed emotions behind my rating.

This series will be perfect when I want a break from more deeply emotional reads, needing a sexy read injected with some humor. Read more.

Before I Fall - Jessica Scott

Despite the age of the protagonists, this is not a typical new adult romance because both these characters have had to grow up and live very adult lives long before their peers. Before I Fall is written with stark authenticity and no sugar-coating the ugliness military and their families deal with when they come home. I was completely enthralled by both Noah and Beth. I felt deeply for them and I rooted for them to overcome. I’m looking forward to the next book in this series about Beth and Noah’s friends. Read more.

Inappropriate (Bristol Island Standalone Books Book 2) - Elizabeth Finn, Marci Clark

Ms. Finn writes character driven stories that are not the same old, same old that we constantly read in Romancelandia. She has a way of writing characters who even when I don’t like their actions along the way, I still root for their love to prevail through whatever ups and downs they might be having. Inappropriatewas no different in that regard. A sexy, angst-filled ride that I enjoyed greatly. Read more.

To the Max - Elle Aycart

TtM is well-written and the premise was well-executed but TtM has a very different feel than others I’ve read by Ms. Aycart…not bad, just different.  I enjoyed TtM greatly but, for me, it didn’t pack the emotionally intense punch ofMore Than Meets the Ink and Heavy Issues. Read more.

The Exception - Adriana Locke

Sigh...

I so wanted to love this book.

The back and forth between the leads was exhausting. I probably should have given up and threw this book into the DNF pile by the 50% mark, but I kept reading hoping it'd get better.

The stalker subplot...I could have done with out that. It was just OTT and in some ways a bit ridiculous.  It turned this book into more of a soap opera, than it already was for me.

Easy Love (The Boudreaux Series) (Volume 1) - Kristen Proby

This was a good start to the series. There was enough introduction to supporting characters to get me interested in their backstories and wanting more too. Most of all, I liked both the protagonists and rooted for them. I'm looking forward to getting to know the Boudreaux siblings and their loves in future books. Read more.

Rock Addiction (Rock Kiss Book 1) - Nalini Singh

The overall premise of Rock Addiction was good and I enjoyed the supporting characters enough to want to read their books. But there was a lot of repetition here as well. I felt like I read about 100 pages of actual story and 300 pages of sex. Read more.

Holiday on Ice - Jaci Burton

This is an good addition to the Play-by-Play series with lots of steam and just enough character development to not make this novella all about the sexy times between the protagonists. Read more.
